It's Time to End the war in Ukraine

the US Congress and European Parliaments need to End the war in Ukraine –– by ending the flow of weapons and money, and by supporting a Peace Settlement.

The US Congress and American citizens (along with European governments and citizens) Need To Wake Up to the realistic facts about the war in Ukraine.

The war in Ukraine is Not going well, as revealed by the leaked government documents – contrary to the positive upbeat rhetoric fed to the mainstream media by American and European government officials. Most military experts are now admitting that Ukraine cannot likely win back anymore lost territory, and therefore the only intelligent next step is for Ukraine to realistically accept its loses and negotiate a compromising peace settlement with Russia.

It would be most smart to negotiate a peace settlement Now, (rather than wait), because Ukraine's loses will likely just get progressively worse over time, and the longer this war goes on the more people will be killed – and for no positive reason ...for no gain at all.

And what about the often touted 'Ukrainian Spring Counter-offensive'? First of all it would be thoughtful to ask 'Why' has the US, Nato, Ukraine, and the western media been talking about this for the past two months? From a strategic perspective, wouldn't it have been kind of smart to not be telling the world about what is militarily planned? That right there smells suspicious. So it seems reasonable to think that this pre-announced 'counter-offensive' is primarily P.R. – meant to give Congress and the public an optimism that would justify the Biden administration’s decision to continue sending Ukraine more weapons and money. Because they probably think that the public would no longer support the prolonging of this war, if the public believed that Ukraine cannot possibly win anyways – meaning then that we (the US and Nato) are literally wasting taxpayer $$Billions and our reserve military weapons on a lost cause. Why Waste weapons and Money on a failing war? What the public have not been told (by the gov-media-outlets) is that our own Military leaders and top Intelligence officers believe that any counter-offensive would do very little if anything at all, and that Ukraine will lose even more territory as the war goes on. This true belief (vs the propaganda we all hear) is verified by the recent leaked documents.

So How can this war (and the killing) come to an end?

— In order to fully convince the Zelensky government that negotiation is needed Now, America and Europe need to make it absolutely clear that they are Not willing to bring in all of their weapons, fighter jets and troops, and thereby enter into a full-scale war with Russia and perhaps China included. This scenario – of the US and Nato escalating all of their military forces into the Ukraine war – not only would be a disaster of hundreds of thousands more dead, but also the US and Nato would most likely lose in this world war, or else it may result in the nuclear destruction of modern civilization.

Thus, Ukraine needs to know, clearly, that American and European citizen are Not willing to enter into WWIII over this Ukraine-Russian conflict. Therefore, it is time Now to negotiate a Peace Settlement, which will necessarily involve the US and Nato as well as Ukraine.

European leaders also see the writing on the wall and are scrambling to work out a way to end the war before Ukraine is destroyed anymore. The Wall Street Journal reported (Feb 24) that French and German leaders, Macron and Scholz, told Zelensky that “he needs to consider peace talks.” To be more blunt, Zelensky needs to seek peace talks NOW.

IF the Flow of Money is ended, this war and all the killing would be over Very Soon.

Yet if the US and Europe continue to offer Ukraine evermore weapons and even fighter jets, along with more $Billions to support the Ukrainian government, then Ukraine has little incentive to negotiate an immediate end to this war. For to continue this war necessarily depends on Ukraine receiving many more weapons (from US and Nato reserve stockpiles) and many more $Billions – without which the Ukrainian government would immediately collapse.

Also, State Dept insiders believe that Ukraine's military generals are unwilling to continue the war, unless they continue to receive $Millions in cash payments from the $Billions given Ukraine from the US and Nato countries. Or in other words, they would very likely refuse to continue the war, unless they receive hefty million dollar bribes as incentives for continuing the battles.

Recently this past January the CIA Director himself went to Kiev to hand-give Zelensky a list of thirty-five generals and senior government officials, who the CIA identified as skimming over $400 Million from US cash payments into their own domestic and offshore accounts. But Zelensky responded by dismissing only ten of the officials on the list -- those who had been most ostentatious in flaunting their new wealth. Moreover, according to inside intelligence-sources of the long-time journalist Seymour Hersh, the Ukrainian generals were angry that Zelensky and his Kiev officials were taking too much of the millions in cash given to Ukraine, and it is thought that Zelensky is probably the highest paid recipient of US cash, which is a nice incentive to continue the war. Also according the inside sources, the government ministries in Kiev have been literally “competing” to set up front companies to sell weapons to private arms dealers. And in another revealed scheme of corruption, as reported by 'New Cold War', Zelensky and other officials skimmed 170 million euros from money that was supposed to pay for Bulgarian artillery shells, according to a member of the Ukrainian parliament. None of this is official and verifiable in any precise way, since much of this is from unknown government insiders, yet it is a possible and reasonable explanation for why the Ukrainian government and military do not just end the war before thousands more of Ukrainian sons are killed in battle.

Of course though, wide-spread corruption in the Ukraine government has been a well-known topic of discussion for many years – but after the war began, western governments immediately suppressed such criticism in media-outlets, and governments and the media suddenly labeled all criticisms of Ukraine as “Russia propaganda” or “pro-Putin.” In a Press Release from the European Court, from just back in Sept 2021 before the war, it states “Grand corruption and state capture are endemic in Ukraine.... The EU has long been aware of the connections between oligarchs, high-level officials, politicians, the judiciary and state-owned enterprises, including illicit financial flows and money-laundering.”

And a July 2020 article from Euronews.com writes about how Zelensky vowed to stop massive government corruption in his 2019 election, but then later he “restored corruption” and again allowed the oligarchs to influence government policies. Initially after his election, Zelensky got rid of the previous corrupt government ministers and he appeared to sincerely want to end government corruption. But within a year in office, Zelensky turned from 'eliminating government corruption' to re-establishing the norm of corruption, as he announced that the government is again 'open for business' with the Ukrainian wealthy oligarchs and with any countries offering cash-in-hand or loan incentives.

Zelensky also won the 2019 election on a promise to “to stop the shooting in the Donbas" and make a peace deal with Russia in eastern Ukraine – thus ending the armed conflict with the two breakaway Russian-friendly Donbas republics - which had sought a partial, decentralized, regional independence within Ukraine (similar to the US 'state rights'), as well as recognize Crimea as Russian territory. But after elected, Zelensky turned 180 degrees on this too. Initially he did appear to seek peace, as he met for peace talks with Putin and attempted to establish a ceasefire in the Donbas, but within a year in office he switched over to being pro-war, aligning with the far-right nationalists who sought to militarily defeat the Russian-supported breakaway republics and take back Crimea, and he agreed to let the US and Nato train the Ukrainian military and bring in more offensive weapons - in order to launch a finalizing defeat of the Russian-backed Donbas republics. The final stage buildup of this planned offensive was one of the provoking causes for the countering buildup of Russian troops near the eastern border and the subsequent Russian invasion after Nato and Ukraine walked away from Russia's peace proposal.

In a related political turnaround, Zelensky campaigned that he would return all democratic rights to the Donbas regions and repeal the previous laws that banned Russian-speaking schools and news; but within a year Zelensky switched over to support and approve of the Ukrainian ethnic-nationalistic ideology - which sought to outlaw Russian-language and cleanse Russian-culture from all of Ukraine (including eastern and southern Ukraine where most residents spoke Russian and had Russian relatives) - in order to 'unite all regions' into a Ukrainian ethnic-nationalism, tightly directed by a centralized Kyiv government.

Once again to reiterate — IF the Flow of Money is ended, this war and all the killing would be over Very Soon.

So what will be the next move by the Biden administration and by European governments?

— Will they collectively decide to escalate the war into a World War conflict?

— Or will they decide to just keep prolonging the war 'as long as possible', by continuing to send evermore weapons and Billions? (with the aim of killing more Russians and trying to weaken the Russian economy)

— Will they decide to give advanced fighter jets and long-range missiles, so that Ukraine can attack deep into Crimea and Russia, which would probably result in Russia retaliating with strikes on Nato bases, which would then cause a European world war.

— Or will they finally admit that their geopolitical hopes and plans for the war in Ukraine have failed miserably, and that the best step now is to pull the plug and settle for a diplomatic peace agreement with Russia, including a long-term Peace-Security Arrangement in Eurasia between the US-Nato and Russia.

What will they decide?
...And will the US and European governments allow any real debate [about this] from the people and in mainstream media? For so far during this war, the media has brainwashed the public to denounce anyone who promotes an end to the war through peace negotiations - as being “pro-Putin” - and thus there has been little debate if any at all.

Need To make sure that we Do Not end up in a European-Russian war over this Ukrainian issue, and there needs to be public debate and oversight about even continuing the war any further [with evermore weapons and $Billions]. In fact, the whole world should be consulted, for everyone in the world has been adversely affected by this war and its sanctions, especially the poorer nations and the thousands of people who have died of hunger from the economic impacts of this war.

American citizens and Congress, along with European citizens and Parliaments, need to Call for an End to this war and demand immediate peaceful negotiation.

American citizens and Congress, along with European citizens and Parliaments, should not allow their executive decision-makers to escalate the war in Ukraine and bring us all into a larger war against Russia and China. We should not allow our governments to make these life-threatening decisions without public debate and without media debate, and we all should be asking Why and 'Is war the best way to solve this inter-national conflict?' We should be demanding our governments choose diplomacy over war, negotiation over armed fighting, and peaceful relations over antagonistic relations. War itself is the result of failed diplomacy.

We need to stop fueling this war. Stop adding more wood to a destructive fire. Stop providing the weapons and ammo for more death and destruction. War is not the best solution to conflict, and war never produces long-term peaceful relations. We all have to get along peacefully in this one world, and especially the 'super-powers', the nuclear-weapon giants, need to get along peacefully – if we are going to have a truly Safe World. And besides this, there are very urgent global problems that we all share, such as the increasing climate change and ecological destruction; so all nations need to work together in a collaborative way in order to solve these immediate global existential problems.

What can the US Congress do?

Americans and Congress Must Not allow the Biden administration to send the US into an escalated war against Russia. And instead, we should be demanding an End to war – by ending anymore shipments of weapons and $$Cash. The Biden pro-war Team, by the way, has so far incentivized Russia to build up their military forces ever stronger, and also to form a military and economic alliance with China, and they have created an economic disaster for Europe and a probable recession for the US. Great job Biden Team! And to boot, they have consistently lied to the public — as revealed by the recent leaked government documents.

A group of congress members have already proposed the 'Ukraine Fatigue Resolution', which stated “the United States must end its military and financial aid to Ukraine” and urged “all combatants to reach a peace agreement.”

If a Congress member does not support this, then ask them Why?

The Congress did already approve over 100 $$BILLION for maintaining the war in Ukraine – though this was approved at a time when Congress and the public were led to believe that Ukraine could possibly win the war. However, Congress can nonetheless demand transparency and accountability as to where this money is going and how it is being used. The US Congress must insist on complete transparency and accountability from the Executive Branch. But so far, every congressional proposal for transparent accountability has been rejected by the majority of congress members. Why?

By Law (by the Constitution), the Congress must be informed of any executive plans for war, or any escalation of proxy wars – including the sending of fighter jets and “advisory” personnel such as military trainers and pilots.
→ As required by the Constitution and Section 8(c) of the War Powers Resolution, the President must get explicit and official Congressional Authorization -- before sending or maintaining ANY U.S. military personnel, special forces, advisers or trainers in Ukraine during a time of war.

And of course, it's been well known that CIA personnel have been in Kyiv since the war began. According to the New York Times, “even as the Biden administration has declared it will not deploy American troops to Ukraine, some CIA personnel have continued to operate in the country secretly, mostly in the capital, Kyiv, directing much of the massive amounts of intelligence the U.S. is sharing with Ukrainian forces.”

The recently leaked government documents reveal that the US and UK have “special forces” in Ukraine to help train and advise Ukraine's military. The documents also reveal that Ukraine would probably have 12 combat brigades ready for a possible spring counteroffensive, and that 9 of these 12 brigades have been trained and equipped by the US.
→ Well then, if most of the Ukraine brigades are trained and equipped by the US and if the US has special forces in Ukraine ... then is it not true that this is a war between the US and Russia? or between Nato and Russia? …And Ukraine is not even a member of Nato.

Also by the way, no member of Congress was told about how we have special forces in Ukraine, or um advisors, which begs the question of the Biden administration being deceptive to Congress. There was time, not too long ago, when Congress had to be informed and give approval of such things, as required by the US Constitution and the War Powers Resolution.

It is quite obvious that the Biden administration, and the State Dept in particular, have engaged in illegal deceptions and have kept secrets from Congress. Yet the gov-corporate colluding media will not bring this into the public spotlight. It is obvious that the White House executive branch of government do not want the American people nor Congress to know all the facts, as they make great efforts to present just their own decided narratives and maintain control over what facts are presented to the people and to Congress.

At least some members of Congress have expressed concern that there has been NO Accountability for where the Ukrainian aide of over $100 Billion actually went. The Biden administration cannot (or will not) provide any details, and it appears they don't intend to do so. (read - accountability-for-ukrainian-aid-bill)

And Where do our weapons go when sent to Ukraine??

— In April of 2022 the Biden administration admitted that the US doesn’t have the ability to fully track all the shipments of weapons, acknowledging the possibility that “some of the shipments may ultimately end up in unexpected places.” From CNN Politics, “the US has few ways to track the substantial supply of anti-tank, anti-aircraft and other weaponry it has sent... and some of those weapons may wind up in the hands of other militaries and militias.” Thus, some of the weapons “could find their way to the black market, risking not only US national security, but that of our European allies.” Jordan Cohen, a defense and foreign policy analyst at the CATO Institute and who focuses on arms sales, said “the biggest danger surrounding the flood of weapons being funneled into Ukraine is what happens to them when the war ends or transitions into some kind of protracted stalemate.” Evidence from recent history shows that “inevitably, some weapons ended up on the black market.”

Such a scenario, of Ukrainian military officers selling weapons on the blackmarket is quite likely indeed, given Ukraine’s history of endemic corruption and blackmarket affiliations. For example, according to a 2017 Small Arms Survey on arms trafficking, “over 300,000 small arms disappeared from Ukraine between 2013 and 2015 and only 13 percent were recovered. Criminal networks, corrupt officials, and underpaid military personnel can make a profitable business from the sale of arms from Ukrainian military stockpiles. And in 2019 Ukrainian soldiers were caught in a blackmarket exchange to sell 40 RGD-5 grenades, 15 grenade launchers, 30 grenade detonators, and 2,454 rounds of ammunition, and all this for about $3,000 US dollars.”

So just imagine how many more weapons a terrorist group could buy with ‘a lot more money’. According to NATO at the end of 2022, Ukrainian Armed Forces have consumed an average of 100,000 rounds of 155mm artillery ammunition per month, which is about 10 Times more than the US and NATO anticipated, and the story is similar for Stingers, Javelins, HIMARS, and other critical weapons. How did they use up so many of these weapons so quickly?
Did these weapons get sold on the Blackmarket?

So again, what can the US Congress do to promote peace in the world,
(rather than war)?

The American people and Congress can support the ‘Ukraine Fatigue Resolution’,
to end US military and financial aid to Ukraine” and urge the White House to support a peace agreement to end the war.

Secondly, the Congress should insist that the executive branch abide by the ‘War Powers Act’, which prevents the president from continuing hostilities undertaken in emergency or exigent circumstances, without seeking and obtaining Congressional approval, and it requires the president to notify Congress within 48 hours of committing armed forces to military action and before sending or maintaining any U.S. military personnel in a territory of war, and it forbids armed forces from remaining for more than 60 days, without congressional authorization for use of military force or a declaration of war.

In March 2023, the Senate voted to repeal the 2002 and 1991 'Authorizations for Use of Military Force', which gave the President an authorization to engage in war activities without first having congressional debate and approval. However, the House has not yet passed it. People need to urge House representatives to pass these repeals as well.

But the '2001 Authorization for Use of Military Force' still remains as law – so the President alone still has the power to decide where and when to engage in hostilities and use military force, including the very dangerous power to initiate a 'pre-emptive strike', without any congressional debate or approval. So this still-lingering authorization still gives the President (and the White House advisors) a dangerous power to engage in global hostilities and wars, wherever and whenever they decide, and at any moment. The People and the Congress must take back this autocratic power given to the president and cabinet advisors.

In addition, the American public should support a reigning in of the already over-bloated Military Budget, rather than keep increasing it as many members in Congress wish to do, due to their close ties with military contractors. Yet there are some honest and sane members of congress who want to spend more of our public money on real People Needs, rather than waste such as vast amount of money on military contracts which primarily enrich the military industries and their investors – using taxpayer public money to increase their profiteering. Recently this past February 2023, the Congressional Defense Spending Reduction Caucus re-introduced their 'People Over Pentagon Act', which would reduce our bloated defense spending by $100 billion and reinvest this public money on priorities such as infrastructure, health care and education.
